The sporting goods store, which operates locations at Springfield’s White Oaks Mall and at Marketplace Shopping Center in Champaign and also around the globe, will be located at Peoria’s Westlake Shopping Center.
Earlier this year, Westlake teased a new sporting goods store would be coming to the shopping center, yet at the time the potential tenant was not named. On Tuesday night, however, the council was informed which store will be coming to Peoria.
A JD Sports will be located at Peoria’s Westlake Shopping Center, according to information that was provided to the Peoria City Council on Tuesday night by the owner of Westlake Shopping Center. The information given the council shows a photo of a JD Sports location with the tagline “coming soon” in 2026.
City Councilman Andre Allen, whose 4th District is home to the Westlake Shopping Center, said he was excited to see the store coming to his district and the shopping center.
“(Westlake) continues to be a premier shopping destination for our region and this addition adds to its momentum,” Allen said. “We’re also demonstrating our commitment to maintaining the economic tools needed to stay competitive and support continued growth.”
